Supreme Court throws out Oppong Nkrumah’s bid to overturn legal vacation ruling
The Supreme Court has unanimously dismissed an application by the Member of Parliament for Ofoase-Ayirebi, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, seeking a review of an earlier decision that rejected his application for an injunction against the hearing of selected cases during the legal vacation.
According to a report by myjoyonline.com, a three-member panel of the apex court dismissed the review application on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.
The case came before the Court after Oppong Nkrumah challenged the decision to hear what he described as selected cases during the legal vacation.
He had initially sought an injunction to prevent the hearing of the cases, but the Court dismissed the application.
Dissatisfied with the decision, Oppong Nkrumah subsequently filed an application for review, seeking to have the earlier ruling overturned.

At Wednesday’s hearing, however, counsel for Oppong Nkrumah, Frank Davies, first asked the Court to adjourn the matter.
He argued that documents filed by the Attorney-General’s Department had been served on him late, leaving him with inadequate time to study them and prepare a response.
The Court rejected the request for an adjournment and proceeded to hear the substantive review application.
After hearing the arguments, the three-member panel unanimously dismissed the application.
