Lord Adabo impresses for Asante Kotoko in 2-2 draw with Debibi United
Asante Kotoko midfielder Lord Hilary Adabo showed incredible emotional resilience by not only turning up but also delivering an impressive performance for the club in the 2-2 draw with Debibi United on the opening weekend of the 2026/2027 Ghana Premier League season.
Barely 24 hours after his father, Paul Akurugu Adabo, passed away, Lord Adabo was in action for Kotoko at the Golden City Park in Berekum, and the weight of the unfortunate news was barely noticeable.
Trusted in the starting eleven by coach Erik Tinkler, the defensive midfielder proved a solid rock in midfield for Asante Kotoko, who could have walked away with all three points.
His interceptions and blocks were outstanding as he provided a competent shield for the defence and progressed the ball forward impressively.
Dogo Yakubu gave the Porcupine Warriors an early lead, but Debibi produced a spirited second-half comeback through a Richard Owusu brace.
Kotoko eventually rescued a point when Herbert Gyau struck from a goalmouth scramble.
The draw has left Asante Kotoko sixth with just one point from their opening game.
