'I crossed the line' – TikToker apologises to Shatta Wale after 48-hour legal threat
Social media personality Priscilla Kyeremaa, known online as Prisywan, has issued an unqualified apology to Ghanaian dancehall musician Shatta Wale after his lawyers threatened legal action over statements she made about the musician in a TikTok video.
Prisywan apologised to the musician in a social media post on September 11, 2026, after lawyers for Shatta Wale gave her a 48-hour ultimatum to remove the video, retract the statements and issue an unconditional apology.
In her apology, Prisywan acknowledged that she had crossed the line with some of her comments and accepted that Shatta Wale had the right to pursue legal action over the matter.
“Shatta, I am sorry. I just want to come on here and render an unqualified apology to you, sincerely. I acknowledge that I crossed the line with this particular one. You are right. You have the prerogative to take me on, to take legal action, or even apprehend me,” she said.
She further acknowledged Shatta Wale’s understanding of the entertainment industry and said the decision by the musician to consider legal action showed the seriousness of her comments.
“Shatta Wale, you are one person who understands pop culture to the core. You really do understand the role of pundits in this industry, and so, for Shatta to want to take legal action against me goes to tell us how piercing my comments may have been,” she noted.
Prisywan also said she had learnt that the controversy had allegedly affected Shatta Wale commercially, including the loss of a contract.
“And I hear that you lost a contract because of my comments, which makes it even more pathetic. I don’t take delight in hurting people to that point, and so I want to apologise to you. I am sorry, Shatta Wale,” she added.
The apology comes a day after Shatta Wale’s lawyers, Porta Legis Consultancy, issued a letter dated September 10, 2026, accusing Prisywan of making false and damaging statements about the musician in a TikTok video published on August 29, 2026.
Shatta Wale takes legal action against TikToker
According to the lawyers, the video followed an interview Shatta Wale granted broadcaster Serwaa Amihere on August 28 and contained comments directed at issues arising from that interview.
Among the statements cited by the lawyers were comments in which Prisywan urged Shatta Wale to take his mental health seriously and described him as a “confused artiste.”
The lawyers argued that the statements, considered in their ordinary meaning and the context in which they were made, could give viewers the impression that Shatta Wale had a mental health problem.
They described the assertions and insinuations as “false, malicious, reckless and seriously injurious” to Shatta Wale’s reputation, dignity, character and professional standing.
The lawyers also claimed that the video was widely circulated by bloggers and social media users, extending its reach beyond Prisywan’s followers.
They further alleged that the publication had commercial consequences for the musician, claiming that a meeting scheduled with investors on August 31 was subsequently cancelled.
Shatta Wale’s lawyers stressed that their client does not object to legitimate criticism or fair comment but takes issue with statements they consider false and damaging.
They demanded that Prisywan remove the video, retract the statements, issue an apology and undertake not to repeat similar allegations.
The lawyers warned that failure to comply within the 48-hour deadline could result in further legal action, including civil proceedings, injunctive relief and claims for damages and costs.
