Ghanaian musician Okyeame Kwame has criticised the manner in which Shatta Wale was interrupted on stage during his performance at the 2026 NkrumahFest.
In an interview with Adom FM, making rounds online on September 22, 2026, Okyeame Kwame said no musician should be interrupted while performing on stage.
He explained that if urgent information needs to be communicated, it should be passed through the artiste’s security detail or stage manager.

“This isn’t right at all. If you have solid security, no one should be able to come on stage. In a situation where the information being passed across is very important, it would have to go through the stage manager,” he maintained.
Okyeame Kwame further explained the bond between artistes and their stage managers, noting that such relationships allow performers to understand subtle cues even in the middle of a show.
“There is a certain connection between an artiste and a stage manager. Aboa Kese has been my stage manager for close to 15 years, and I understand every movement he makes when I am on stage. Even when he blinks, I know what it means,” he added.

The comments follow a viral video in which Shatta Wale appeared visibly upset after being interrupted by Member of Parliament for Jomoro, Ms Dorcas Affo-Toffey.
He fumed that MPs and ministers are not disturbed while working in their offices and insisted that the same respect should be extended to artistes performing on stage.
