Shatta Wale rocks show at NkrumahFest music concert
Dancehall artiste Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, rocked the stage during the climax of the 2026 NkrumahFest musical concert at Nkroful in the Ellembelle District.
The show, which ran from Sunday night to Monday morning, saw Shatta Wale perform for more than two hours, delivering back-to-back hits to over 20,000 fans who sang along and brought the town to a standstill at the Nkroful Agricultural Senior High School Park.
Fans described this year’s NkrumahFest music concert as the best ever and commended the Member of Parliament for Ellembelle and Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, for sponsoring the event.
Nzema-based Ivorian French artiste Freddy Meiway also performed, thrilling patrons with his electrifying stagecraft.
In a surprising moment that sent the crowd into frenzy, the Deputy Minister for Transport and Member of Parliament for Jomoro, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, took to the stage to dance with Shatta Wale during his performance, leaving fans shocked and cheering.
Shatta Wale, who was billed alongside Kofi Kinaata, Nero X, Ackah Blay, Jak Alolome, Mimi Kwaw and Express Gifty, among others, thrilled patrons with an energetic performance that formed the climax of the festival.
Armah-Kofi Buah, who graced the occasion, honoured Shatta Wale as the Youth President of the Western Region.
Addressing the crowd, Armah-Kofi Buah said for the past five years, the youth of the Region had persistently demanded Shatta Wale.
"For good five years the youth of the Western Region have been calling me bring Shatta, bring Shatta, bring Shatta and now I understand, Shatta forever," he stated.
He described Shatta Wale as not just an artiste, but a movement that embodies the spirit of the youth.
On his part, Shatta Wale expressed profound gratitude to Buah and the chiefs and people of Nzema for the honour and called on the people of Nzemaland and the Western Region to rally behind Mr Buah to accelerate development.
He also pledged to use his platform to promote Nkroful and the Western Region.
The event increased sales and patronage at Nkroful and other nearby communities in the Ellembelle District, with hotels and guest houses becoming fully booked as visitors trooped in for the festival.
The concert formed part of activities to commemorate the 117th birthday of Ghana's first President, Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, on the theme: "NkrumahFest @117: Celebrating his enduring legacy – Africa must unite or perish."
The event was attended by the Western Regional Minister, Joseph Nelson, the Member of Parliament for Evalue-Ajomoro Gwira, Kofi Arko Nokoe, some Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in the Western Region, some Paramount Chiefs in the Western Region and other prominent personalities.
