New details emerge in SoAfrican’s alleged sexual exploitation case
New details have emerged in the case involving East Legon-based entrepreneur and social media personality Joshua Kojo Anane Boateng, popularly known as SoAfrican, who was arrested over allegations of sharing intimate images without consent and online sexual exploitation.
SoAfrican was arrested on May 6, 2026, by the Cyber Crime Unit of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in a joint operation with the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI).
According to information gathered, the suspect has since been granted police inquiry bail as investigations into the allegations continue.
However, the case remains before the court, with proceedings reportedly delayed on several occasions because the complainant, whose report led to SoAfrican’s arrest, has been unable to appear in court.
A report by Gossip24 indicates that some of the alleged victims in the case have also been unable to appear before the court.
The reasons for their inability to appear have not been established.

Background
SoAfrican, a 36-year-old entrepreneur who resides at East Legon in Accra, was arrested on May 6, 2026, during a joint intelligence-led operation involving the CID’s Cyber Crime Unit and the Bureau of National Investigations.
Briefing the media on May 12, 2026, CID Director-General Commissioner of Police Lydia Yaako Donkor said investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly operated a Telegram platform called “VIP Sleep Fetish 2025.”
According to her, the SoAfrican allegedly used alprazolam, commonly known as Xanax, to sedate unsuspecting women before sexually abusing them, recording the acts and sharing the videos online without their consent.
She further stated that investigations suggested the suspect frequented nightclubs, where he allegedly targeted women, drugged them and committed similar offences before circulating the recordings online.
During the arrest, the police retrieved several items believed to be relevant to the investigation. These included two iPhones, a feature phone, a memory card, a Seagate external hard drive, a MacBook laptop, an iSafe device and empty sachets suspected to have contained alprazolam and midazolam.
The police said the electronic devices had been secured for forensic examination to help investigators establish the facts of the case. The suspected drug sachets were also to be examined by the Food and Drugs Authority to determine their contents and classification.
The investigation and court proceedings remain ongoing. The allegations against SoAfrican have yet to be determined by the court.
