...With A Non-Denominational Church Service.
The president of the Ghana National Council of Metropolitan Chicago, Mr.John-Henry Assabill, appealed to churches, organizations and other community groups in Chicago to support programs of the Council. Mr. Assabill made the appeal at a heavily attended Non-Denominational Church Service hosted by the Church of The Ghanaian Community of Chicago, 5500 S. Woodlawn, to commence Ghana?s 51 st Independence Anniversary Celebrations here. The joint service was organized by the Ghana National Council and the Fellowship of Ghanaian Churches, led by Reverend Dr. Kofi Noonoo. In his sermon, Father Robert Canon Coomson, Resident Pastor of the Ghanaian Community Church, entreated the Christian Community to be steadfast in their faith and proclaim the Gospel. Rev. Dr. Quamson proposed a merger of all the 18 Ghanaian Churches in Chicago. Other Ministers who participated in the service includes; Dr. Gabriel Amoateng Boahen, Rev. Amos Oladipo, Father Phillip Mensah, Father Canon Albert Mensah. The Ghanaian Community Mass Choir entertained the gathering with beautiful rendition of Patriotic Hymns and gospel Music. Chicagoans will conclude this year?s celebrations with a dinner dance slated at the elegant Westin Hotel, 6100 North River Road, Rosemont, Illinois on March 8 2008 from 7 P.M to 2 A.M. Tickets will cost 60 dollars per person and Parking is free . Your may purchase your tickets at the door. There will be live traditional cultural performances by renowned artists in the Chicago area. Talented D.J Bonsu, will be there with the latest mixes of Funk, Hip Hop, Reggae, High Life and Old School Music to give revelers the outmost entertainment!
