Bronx, NY -- The Ghanaian Minister's Fellowship International in conjunction with Consulate General of Ghana in New York recently had a two-day church service
in prayers for Ghana celebrating her 51st independence. The Ghanaian
Minister's Fellowship International made an effort in bringing all the
Ghanaian churches in the New York metropolitan area to pray for Ghana every
year during the independence anniversary period. The program was held at the
Calvary Deliverance Christian Assembly church in the Bronx.
Preaching at the service, Rev. William Darko took his message from Psalm
137, *He said; "as some Israelites were in captive in Babylon they wept when
they remembered their country so they hung their harps".* They vowed never
to forget their beloved country. Rev. Darko encouraged the congregants to
remember their country; Ghana and pray for her. They should never forget
Ghana but instead remember Ghana by doing the best to help as we are in a
foreign land.
In attendance were members of the Ghanaian Minister's Fellowship
International which included; Rev. Nana Poku, Rev. Ben Boakye, Rev. Theresa
Owusu Ansah, Rev. Grace Anku, Rev. Eric Owusu Kissi who started the service
with an opening prayer, Bishop Dr. Peter Owusu Ansah welcomed congregants,
Rev. Victoria Otumfour introduced dignitaries/guests and Rev. Kwesi Fenteng
who read the scripture.
The Special guests of honour were; HIs Excellency; Ambassador Kojo
Christian, Ghana's Ambassador to the UN and His Excellency; Obeng Gyan
Busia, Consul General, The Executive membrs of NCOGA, Nana Anane Amponsah,
New York Asantefuohene and Togbe Setrana, of UVA. The Praises and Worship
was led by Ebenezer Assembly of God Choir and a short music
interlude/Choreography by the CDCA Youth Company. The Methodist Choir sung;
"Yen Ara Yasase Ni".
H. E. Christian and H. E. Obeng Gyan Busia respectively addressed the
gathering with inspiring short remarks. Apostle Albert Boakye led prayers
for Ghana and committed Ghana for a safe and peaceful election. He urged
the members of the Ghanaian Minister's Fellowship International to encourage
their church members to attend the celebration every year. Rev. Ben Boakye
also blessed the occasion and safely departure of congregants.
