It is always a pleasure and an unbelievable story to tell when one
sacrifices and work hard studying and finally reaches a milestone;
GRADUATION. One scholar with a pleasant personality recently had a
graduation bash and was attended by family and friends.
The recipient of that 2009 Master of Science degree in Social Enterprise
Administration and Management was; Ms Asimau Mata Sheriff.
The graduation bash occurred at Paradise Grill Restaurant, located on 441
East 153rd Street in the Bronx - NY. It was co-hosted by one of Ghana's
finest Media personalities and formerly of GTV- Jennifer Agyapong Nartey and
Flipman, another media hotspot; aka "da mouth of da bronx".
Mr. Sandy Amoyaw was special guest of honour who introduced Ms Sheriff with
the phrase, "The Sheriff is in Town". He talked briefly about Ms Sheriff
and the 2009 Graduate was officially introduced.
The "Sheriff" took the opportunity to thank her family and guests who had
come and show support in diverse ways. Her brief address was powerful and
emotional. Her tears of joy moved the guests who went to share tears with
her and hugged her offering congratulatory messages.
Ms Sheriff was showered with dollar bills as she hit on the dance floor.
3G Media congratulates Ms Sheriff on her milestone. As Sam Cook sung-
"It's been a long, a long time coming. But I know a change gonna come, oh
yes it will." A change has finally come as Ms Sheriff persevered and
finally received the honor due to her.
*BIOGRAPHY OF ASIMAU MATA SHERIFF*
Dr. Kwegyir Aggrey, a Ghanaian scholar, once remarked that ?if you educate a
man you educate an individual, but if you educate a woman you educate a
whole nation.?
Asimau Mata Sheriff received her secondary school education at Fijai
Secondary in Sekondi. Her rapid secondary school career coupled with her
insatiable quest for knowledge and excellent grades channeled her to pursue
a Bachelor?s degree in Sociology and Minor in Business Administration from
the University of Ghana, Legon in 2001. In 2004, after several visits to the
states, this beautiful young lady finally migrated to the United States for
further studies. In May of 2009 she graduated from the Columbia University
in the City of New York, with a Master of Science degree in Social
Enterprise Administration and Management. She has devoted herself to
strategic operational frameworks and theoretical investigation.
She is generally reserved and ?stand-offish?, but of a gregarious and
restless disposition. She is also very fond of justice which she seldom gets
and brought to public recognition both by her work and by the special
circumstances of her life.
She was a founding member and involved with Black Queens Club of Ghana in
1999 on campus at the University of Ghana. After being introduced to the
academic climate of UG, Asimau became more involved in the Sociology and
Marketing Student Association of Ghana.
Though of bilateral royal parentage, Asimau believes in Aristotelian
rationalism, that is moderation, combined with social positivism and
insatiable curiosity, no wonder she ended up, an Ivy leaguer.
She proudly said; "I take this opportunity to thank my mother, her absence
in this country notwithstanding, she has been an inspiration and a constant
source of sage advice, and needless to say she has and still is my lifeline.
Furthermore, I dedicate this feat to my deceased father who was the
architect of my academic accomplishment and very instrumental in my quest
for greatness. Nonetheless I am still unjaded after his demise because I
have gone from good to better and I know that the best is yet to come.
Last but not the least, I am very touched by the numerous support and
prayers I have received from all my siblings Adam, Hardy, Jumai, Hasselaru,
Olu and all my nephews and nieces, the rest of the family and my love
ones."
