The much talked about, first of its kind picnic organized for all July and
August born Ghanaians in Chicago and its environs came off with fanfare
and excitement at the Jackson Park, around 63rd and Stony Island. Despite the
short notice, attendance was fair. Most attendees believe that if properly
organized, the July August born joint outdoor birthday celebrations could
be a very popular summer outing event in the future.
As expected, “Mayor” Mr. Boafo Papafio, Ms.Margaret Akua Siaw,and a host
of other celebrants were there to participate in the first group outdoor
birthday celebrations in Chicago.The president of the Ghana National Council,
Mr. John Henry Assabill and the Moderator, Dr. Mark Kutame were there to
lend their support to the celebrants.
Attendants had a lot to eat and drink. The atmosphere was kept vibrating
with selections of popular lyrics by Freedom Soundz.
Bedzra Consulting company presented to Ms.Margaret Siaw, a large poster
depicting pictures of President Barak Obama’s visit to Ghana recently.
