pic 44149007 Bronx, NY The President of the Brong Ahafo Association of USA in New York Mr Patrick Ohene Gyan has urged the members of the Association to allow the spirit of love ,Unity, friendship and tolerance to prevail in their midst to enable the association grow. Speaking at the very colorful and well attended 20th Anniversary fundraising dance in the Bronx last week end he disclosed that the proceeds will go to aid schools and hospitals in the Brong Ahafo Region of Ghana. "It very sad and unfortunately some school children continue to receive their basic lessons under trees in some remote areas of Ghana while others are without uniforms and books. ?We hear of women not having any beds to sleep on in labor wards and it is because of such sad situations that we have taken it upon ourselves to help in our own little ways?. Mr. Gyan also stated that the doors of the association?s executives are always opened for comments. Earlier in the day, Patrick Ohene Gyan ?President and Kwabena Manu ?Pancho? ?a member of the executive committee had showcased the evening?s event on Volta Power FM?s morning program hosted by Mr. Danso Abeberese of GBC 1 fame. Four distinguished members of the association were honored with recognition awards for their contributions to the association ? Edward Mensah ?Soldier?, Prince Adjei, Abena Yirenkyi and Gladys Bemah. The awards were presented by the Acting Consul General at the Ghana Mission ? Joseph NgminebayihiHon. Joseph Ngminebayihi hinted that the Ghana Mission will be issuing Ghanaian passports in a bio-metric mode and he will be out educating the public on how to acquire one without any frustration. He also stated that the Ghana Mission will cooperate with any association in the USA who notifies them of their activities. Present at the event were, the Asantefuohene of New York - Daasebre Anane Amponsah, "The Ever Present" Executive Secretary Genaral of the National Council of Ghanaian Associations (NCOGA) Ms. Rose Ivy Quarshie, Alhaji Mardah and Thomas Mensah (former ESGs of NCOGA and WBC top contender Joshua Clottey. Brong Ahafo Associations from Toronto-Canada, Washinton/Maryland, Worcester-Massachusetts and New Jersey were well represented. The sensational Hip-Hop singer Kofi Boakye aka " Kofi B" was in attendance to grace the fully packed event with his hit music " Odo adaadaa Me".
