'It could haunt you in future' - NYA CEO cautions youth against recording intimate videos

Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority (NYA), Osman Ayariga, has cautioned young people against recording and sharing nude photographs and videos, warning that such content could have lasting consequences for their personal and professional lives.

According to him, young people must be more careful about what they create and share online, particularly intimate material sent to partners or other individuals.

Ayariga said content shared privately could eventually find its way into the public domain, potentially damaging the reputation of individuals who may later occupy leadership or other high-profile positions.

Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the National Youth Parliament on Tuesday, August 25 2026, he urged young people to think beyond the present and consider how their digital footprint could affect their future.

“People should put a stop to sharing their naked videos and photos with people. You have no idea what the future holds and the office that you will find yourself in the future. Sharing such information will haunt you in the future. Let us put a stop to it; it won’t help us in any way,” he said.

Ayariga stressed that the increasing use of social media and other digital platforms makes it even more important for young people to exercise caution when sharing personal information.

He noted that once intimate content is shared with another person, the sender may lose control over where or how it is eventually used.

The NYA CEO therefore encouraged young people to develop responsible digital habits and to consider the long-term consequences before creating or sharing private content.
