Ghanaian gospel musician Diana Hopeson has shared how some artistes have sold their catalogues to Chinese investors.
Speaking in an interview with Kafui Dey, shared on social media on August 25, 2026, Diana Hopeson noted that these investors once approached her but fled when she began to sense their ulterior motives.
She explained that the individuals were paying huge sums of money, adding that even though the money looks good, it would not last long.
“Some Chinese have bought a lot of Ghanaian works. I met them, and they wanted to work with me. I realised where things were going; their character came out, and they had to run away. Some are gospel, while others are from different genres,” she said.

She further noted that the artistes selling their catalogues are big names in the industry.
To her, while these musicians may still be able to create new hit songs, she cautioned that such deals could have long‑term consequences.
“The people may have the name to their songs, but they don’t own them. They will pay you something that you know is sizable, and you feel you can use it, but it will get finished in no time.
“The money was quite enough, but it would get finished. They paid according to the size of the artistes and how big the catalogue is. It was both young and old. If the industry is not sustaining them, they will sell it,” she added.
