Pickup truck plunges into Volta Lake from Afram Plains ferry

A pickup truck has fallen into the Volta Lake while being transported on a ferry at Afram Plains in the Eastern Region.

In a video shared on X on September 12, 2026, residents could be seen gathered at the bank of the lake as efforts were made to retrieve the vehicle.

According to reports, a person was believed to have been inside the pickup when it plunged into the water, prompting an immediate rescue response from people at the scene.

Some residents reportedly entered the lake and joined efforts to rescue the occupant and retrieve the vehicle.

The vehicle was later successfully removed from the water following the rescue operation.

However, the condition of the alleged occupant has not yet been confirmed, while the circumstances that caused the pickup to fall from the ferry remain unclear.
