Ghana committed to safe and peaceful use of nuclear technology - Dr Zanetor

The Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, has reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to the safe and peaceful use of nuclear science and technology for national development. In a Facebook post on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, Dr Agyeman-Rawlings said she had delivered Ghana’s national statement at the 70th Regular Session of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) General Conference in Vienna, Austria. Here's how much Ghana made from airport tax in 2025 She said Ghana remained committed to ensuring that nuclear science and technology were applied safely and peacefully to support the country’s development. “On behalf of the Republic of Ghana, I reaffirmed our commitment to the safe, secure and peaceful application of nuclear science and technology for sustainable national development,” she said. Dr Agyeman-Rawlings also highlighted Ghana’s progress in applying nuclear science in areas including healthcare, agriculture, food and water security, environmental protection, industry and climate action. “Delivering Ghana’s national statement at the 70th Regular Session of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) General Conference in Vienna, I highlighted Ghana’s progress in applying nuclear science across healthcare, agriculture, food and water security, the environment, industry and climate action,” she said. She described Ghana’s nuclear development as a journey driven by innovation and resilience, with science and international cooperation playing an important role. “Ghana’s nuclear journey is about innovation, resilience and using science and cooperation to build a safer, cleaner and more prosperous future,” she added.
