Ghanaian entrepreneur and musician itz Tiffany has appealed to the government to consider compensating businesses affected by the demolition exercise at Laboma Beach.
Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM, the singer, whose itz BOX BAR, a three-storey establishment destroyed during the exercise, said several business owners had borrowed money to establish and operate their businesses, and questioned how they would recover following the destruction of their properties.
She said the government should consider the financial losses suffered by affected businesses, particularly those who had invested heavily in their establishments.
“We are pleading with the government that we are in support of what he’s doing, but right now he has to look into compensation because where do we go from here?” she said.
According to itz Tiffany, valuable equipment belonging to her business was destroyed during the demolition, including a generator she valued at GH¢300,000.
“The properties that were destroyed, who is paying for it? I had a generator worth GH¢300,000 on the site; it’s been destroyed. Who will pay for it? It is not fair,” she said.

She also highlighted the impact of the demolition on people who depended on the beach for their livelihoods.
“Do you know how many people are in debt? Do you know how many people have lost their jobs? People who borrowed money for their businesses, where do they go?” she asked.
The entrepreneur further criticised the manner in which the demolition was carried out, arguing that those executing government directives should show more empathy towards affected business owners.
“The government gives an order, and the people that come on the ground are doing the devil’s work. Those people should learn to be empathetic because if it were you who had your little money gone, like by now you are losing it,” she said.
Her comments come after her itz BOX BAR, a three-storey establishment that had operated for less than a year, was demolished alongside other businesses at Laboma.
