Free education and progression the Soviet system. When he revolution took place in Russia in November, 1917 many intellectuals left the country.
To quickly build her intellectual base the state education ministry adopted the brigade system of education to accelerate the number specialists she will produce each year.
Instead of individuals seating for examination students are given the task in a group which resolves it, comes to present it and the group is passed wholesale depending on its performance.
Thus every member of the study group is interested in each member of the group knowing the subject matter and passing the examination in case the examiner chose him or her to answer the questions on behalf of the group.
It is most interesting that the best of soviet intellectuals were produced under that system.

PUTING POLITICS ASIDE, THE WHOLISTIC FREE SHS WITH FOOD FOR DAY STUDENTS WON'T WORK. WHAT PROBLEM ARE WE TRYING TO SOLVE HERE? PARENTS NO LONGER NEED TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR KIDS? WHY NOT PROVIDE MORE AVENUES FOR PARENTS TO BE ABLE TO EARN, LIKE THROUGH THE ONE DISTRIC ONE FACTORY AGENDA, AND IDENTIFY THE REMAINING GROUP OF NEEDED STUDENTS TO HELP THEM? THIS IS A MULTI BILLION MONEY WASTE AND I WOULD HAVE IMAGINED THAT SEASONED POLITICIANS WOULD BE RIGHT ABOUT PRIORITIES WE SHOULD CONSIDER.

Konongokpo perhaps a little education on this matter may be helpful. The problem we are trying to solve here is the failure of children to go to school at least up to the SHS level because of the economic challenges faced by their parents. It's very true that parents are responsible for the education of their children. But the state also has a role to play. I share this view that parents and the state share this dual responsibility in educating the children of our land. But because the child can't wait it is expected that the state would pick the bills for educating the child at an earlier stage in the child's life.

I get disturbed when I hear NDC functionaries making noise about Nana not commenting on the quality issues in his free SHS policy. For goodness sake even NDC knows about quality education and they think Nana doesn't care about quality? You guys should give us a break. Meanwhile I only hope he wouldn't come back to say that he didn't say that free SHS is doable. NDC has the penchant for such things. Sam George is just backtracking of the statement he made about the 'missing' government vehicles. Quality education is so fundamental to our development that even if ensuring that each Ghanaian child receives good education at least up to the SHS level at the expense of other developmental projects, we need to do so.

every child should be in school, at least to High school so that at least some of the ignorance can leave the system and people will be able to reason well in today's world which might also contribute to development in a way, I don't see why enrollment increasing should be a source of concern, we have to think of more community Day High Schools(SHS) so that in the future every child should be able to walk to school or not travel more than 10km, the free boarding part is a little unfair to Day students and the government has not been doing well in releasing feeding grant in the past, I wonder where the money is coming from this time!!!?????

They can do free shs at the expense of roads, hospitals etc. It is the effect of such a decision that we are talking about. Our education is finished. Even advanced countries who have the falicities and all to implement this dont do it so what makes us think that it is good for us? Education is expensive, simplicita. Go to the US or UK and see whether high school is free? We are digging a big trench and we will all be consumed by it shortly

This does not exist in the rich countries. Even Nkrumah's free education wasn't like that. In Nkrumah's time, boarding school students paid for their board even though these were subsidized by government.

In the developed countries, the govt pays full education cost for the poor families or those with unsufficient income.
Why should govt pay free education for kids of say Ablakwa? The VIPs and the rich people must take good care of their kids by thermselves.
Mind you,the best secondary in Ghana are all public schools unlike the developed countries where best secondary schools are private ones.
Besides the criteria of income, all students who benefit free shs go to the day secondary schools,no boarding whatsoever.
Let's say,you cannot stay in Accra and apply for shs in Cape Coast for govt to pay,no sir.
We have millions of Ghanaians living in advanced countries who can help govt this regard. One thing I know for sure,it's absurd for govt to pay for rich families.Don't worry be happy.Thanks.
