Telling workers to stop stealing and not being lazy is just yabbing. There must be action. People steal like it's happening in Ghana Health Service and commissions are set up. For what? Sack and jail them. Period!

What structures/policies are you putting in place to ensure workers cannot engage in those behaviors? This is the greatest problem i had with Egya Atta. He would go to the ports and lament and go back home. All the while, the workers did not give a hoot

Managers in Public Service should be authorized to get rid of lazy people in the system. With unemployment so high in the country, replacing lazy people will never be a problem. The laws in the country should work with regard to petty thievery, in which case those caught in the act, depending on the gravity of the act, should either be suspended or reported to law enforcement officers.

Mr.President must walk the talk.Corruption and graft in in public institutions can never be fought through admonishing. Those of us who joined the NPP campaign trail to boot out the corrupt previous Mahama regime expect more than this. The African Development Index in october 2011 rated Ghana's health system as the most corrupt only second to a war raven unstable state like Chad. The Public Accounts Committee report recently implicating the GHS in the dubious auctioning of a mitsibushi 4 wheel drive for a mere GhC 350 is a serious matter. This comes in the wake of the deliberate arson of CMS to cover evidence of stolen drugs and logistics worth millions of cedis. In the African Development Indicator report 95% of finances and service logistics are diverted into individual accounts and never reach the vulnerable poor and sick.Admittedly, these events occurred with the previous government.Indeed the NDC lost the election because of corruption and the good will and confidence reposed in the new NPP regime should be reciprocated.Key public institutions like the GHS are not just filthy corrupt but breed high level of indiscipline with problems of nepotism and cronyism that encourage laziness and regular absenteeism. In organizations like the GHS people receive regular salaries and allowances without working for years and without a study leave. The Government should also ensure that the Labour Act is fully explored to protect the rights of workers who suffer all manner of abuse and persecution including wrongful and illegal dismissals. This is because most public institutional heads have virtually turned government organizations into private co-operate institutions and unilaterally decide as to when to fire or hire to satisfy their vested parochial interest without due recourse to labour laws or civil service code. Most institutional heads have taken advantage of the weaknesses in the public work system to abuse or illegally dismiss subordinates to either cover rot or settle personal scores.Organizations like AG Department,CHRAJ and the Judiciary have not been helpful in exposing abuse and maltreatment of the Ghanaian public worker when they connive and collude with such public institutions to protect corrupt and tyrannic top public officers who subject subordinates to all manner of atrocities. Many Ghanaian workers are suffering depression and we will soon be witnessing rising incidence of suicide among Ghanaian workers because of the attitude of wicked bosses in public institutions. We will soon be witnessing increasing assassination rates of institutional heads who engage in irrational and unjust dismissal of subordinates without basis only to be protected by a corrupt system. The new government should seriously review employer/employee relationship especially regarding the autocratic attitude of corrupt and wayward institutional heads. Some of these cases are lingering in the high court under cover and the reason sometimes ascribe to dismissal of the Ghanaian public worker is not just ridiculous but ludicrous. It is tantamount to mondern day slavery and amounts to gross, flagrant abuse of the Ghanaian worker's right with impunity. It is only in Ghana a worker can be dismissed for 5 years on grounds of a mental illness when the Labour Act,Constitution and the UN Convention on The Rights Of Persons put high priority of non-discrimation against persons with disability including mental disability. It is only in Ghana the Chief Psychiatrist and the CEO Mental Health Authority can recommend the dismissal of a colleague doctor on grounds of mental ill-health simply because he spoke against a bribery scandal that killed a patient because she could not afford an illegal fee of Gh.C50 for blood transfusion. This is veil persecution act of corruption and illegality to cover corruption .It is a case of intellectual dishonesty, gross abuse and misapplication of power to victimize a hapless subordinate. This case is currently being heard in the Human Rights Court 2 albeit attempts to cover it up.The Government must seriously look into cases of this sort as care study in employer/employee relationship. It is a gross violation of both human rights and rule of law in a so-called democratic dispensation.IN MEMORY OF OUR DISMISSED COMMERADE AND ALL PUBLIC WORKERS PERSECUTED IN ONE WAY OR THE OTHER
