The guy was given money and influenced by sponsorship to go to UK by the APP to leave the board to do what they wanted without Ghanain students representation. It was during this time that the Kuffour Government changed the GETFUND proceeds from 411 billion old ghana cedis to 208, bagging the difference. NUGS was taken to court by an NPP TESCON guy in KNUST for asking about the difference. Kuffour warned the then NUGS president Ken Abotsi just when he took office from the late NUGS president Prince Adams who died mysteriously in a motor accident when he and other student leaders were Kumasi bound. Abotsi was warned at a public encounter with the president televised live when he simply asked about the GETFUND stolen diffference of billions. All caused by the vacuum John Kumah with his NPP created on the GETFUND Board.
It took some of us and Samuel Okudjeto (former Deputy Education Minister), then a student and an active observer at NUGS Central Committee (CC) meeting, to pursue the stolen difference until when the Kuffour Government saw the heat coming, refunded just about 65 billion old Ghana Cedis to cover up the disgrace. It was done quietly without public pronouncements. Though not enough coughed but better.
All these stealing happened because John KUMAH traded the trust NUGS and Ghanaian student had for him, for his selfish ambition and gain. Today, NUGS IS AWARDING JOHN KUMAH FOR BETRAYAL AND INSINCERITY? OH MY GHANA! OH POLITICS! OH NUGS, WHAT HAS BECOME OF YOU??
