The prime duty of the police is to provide security to the society by maintaining law and order. When the police fails to do this either through corruption or neglect, the people surely takes over this duty and the result is the mayhem we have in the country now : lynching of the innocents and the guilty, armed robbery, road accidents, overspeeding on our roads, corruption in offices etc.

For this nonsense of taking personal security serious, I will not lock my door and gate when I sleep. I expect the Police to patrol well well so I can sleep in peace.
When I leave the bank, I will also count my money openly so that thieves will watch and follow me, and I expect the Police to be around to defend me. Employ more policemen and I don't need personal security.
