Interim Head Coach of Accra Hearts of Oak, Henry Wellington says the game against Dreams FC on Sunday in Dawu was a good test for his side.
Accra Hearts of Oak played the Ghana Premier League returnees on Sunday as part of their preseason preparatory games. Hearts were held to a 1-1 draw after midfielder Samudeen Ibrahim had opened the scoring in the 15th minute.
Former striker of the club Eric Gawu pulled level for Dreams in the second half.
Coach Henry Wellington, who has been preparing with the club following the sacking of Scottish trainer Frank Nuttal indicated the game was a good test for his side.
“It was a very hot contest and had all that I expected,” Wellington said after the game. “Yesterday I played one game and today to I played another, comparing both games I have learnt a lot.”
“So the game was a good test for us,” he added.
Meanwhile, Henry Wellington is saddened by the delay in the start of the new Ghana Premier League season.
The Ghana Premier League has been postponed indefinitely following an injunction served the Football Association by Accra Great Olympics.
However, Coach Henry Wellington insists the friendly games will be used to keep his players active ahead of the announcement of a new date for the start of the new season.
“There is time for preparation, so as we prepare and the league keeps on delaying, sometimes it helps and sometimes it doesn’t,” he said.
“Because, it affects the players, when the prepare for the start of the league and it’s postponed their morale is affected but we have friendly games to keep them active,” he concluded.
Accra Hearts of Oak have intensified preparations ahead of the season. They played Vision FC 24 hours earlier before the game in Dawu on Sunday.
The Phobians have brought in American Mark Noonan to steer the affairs of the club as the Chief Executive Officer.
