Which tradition and culture is he writing about? Has he ever seen a dipo procession before? Since he is obviously student, he might try researching in the book depleted, very-old-books-left-by-the-whites Balme Library (the developing black lecturers take book allowances for private collections now!) to see if he could get some pictures of Ghana women in the early C20th. Well into the 1960s, some were walking about bare chested with only G-strings to cover their private parts in parts of northern Ghana. In fact, women walking bare chested was common in southern Ghana too and many parts of sub-Saharan Africa. By the time you reached the Horn of Africa, the men even walk about naked still! Get hold of the Carol Beckwith and Angela Fisher's African Ark and educate yourself/ves.
All this notion about covering your breasts, bums, etc. are either Islamic or Christian missionary values; not traditional African cultural values.

I once mentioned on Okyeame in the 90s how the CPP under Nkrumah acquired second hand clothing to be distributed in northern Ghana, in order to cover up those who go about near naked. The conservative UP opposition was opposed to that, claiming it was an effrontery to their culture and, of course, creeping dictatorship of Nkrumah! The beautiful and fair in complexion Lobi women were particularly very much exposed, and so much still, someone told me, on the Ivorian side of the border. About 3 of my early years in the 50s to 1960 were spent at Damongo and two of my younger siblings were born there, at same Govt Hospital where Pres. Mahama was no doubt born in 1958 while we were there. My father was liquidating the Gonja Settlement Scheme there with his British accounting partner. My father, a keen amateur photographer, took many pics of the people too, so that has helped to preserve some of the scenes in which we grew up.
In some rural areas, one can still see teenagers with full breasts going about bras in even southern Ghana. Just across the border in Togo from the Dzodze-Penyi area, you might still have your fill of such beauties! A Nigerian friend ran into a coconut tree looking.:-) That was in the early 1980s when the PNDC insanely closed the borders for years and people have to use bush paths to cross the borders, making some local touts and the border guards, police, military rich at our expense!
Yes, he should try writing poetry to them. That's what King Solomon did, so he could read the Songs of Solomon to learn some choice words to describe the boobs of women! I used to quote from there copiously to enhance my love letters in the 60s.:-) In fact, I became an expert on that other mates used to consult me.
