How in this day and age some people learned people among them will complain, cry and moan for their tribes persons to be included in the new administration's ministerial appointments rather than wishing for competency is a clear indication of the country's failure and non achievement.
We must learn to accept and respect one another to build a successful nation.
Based on all that analysis,I for one don't support the idea of creating any new regions.
Let's build to unite and not divisions.

You remember the great Nkrumah? You know where his problems started? Bomb throwers etc? That thinking of BETTER than other tribes MUST STOP. That is my point.

The writer has made a valuable contribution and if you don't want to modify and come out of your inferiority complex find a place where you can live in isolation. Most of us want to live as one people to help build a better country.

The Asante man born 1 mile away from the Palace thinks he is BETTER than the Asante man born 2 miles away from the Palace. The Asante man born 2 miles away from the Palace thinks he is be is BETTER than the Asante man born 3 miles away from the palace and it goes on in that order. So even within themselves they have this problem.

We were homo sapians first before our tribal groupings took hold.Race, religion, and politics ensured that we would forever be at each other's throats. So sad.

It is all superficial and idealistic. Kobina, thanks all the same for writing about how it ought to be, not how it is presently. And FUE Philosophy student quickly learns that it is a problem deriving "is" from "ought". I would thus have preferred if your article were grounded in the empirical, the real experiences and recorded history.
Now, you didn't define your key terms, just assumed your readers know them. I can bet last £ that 99.9% of the readers, for that matter the educated Ghanaians, don't know what "tribalism" actually means, as coined in Political Science. It is used sweepingly now to cover incidences which can be properly described as ethnic bigotry, prejudice or ethnocentrism. E.g, Osafo Marfo's leaked speech wasn't tribalism but rather ethnocentric. Only those in control of state resources can really express tribalism through disproportionately and unjustifiably allocating more of those resources to their ethnic group area or members. That's what is called tribalism in Political Science 101.
You have to recognised that it's a misnoner to call our various major linguistic divisions "tribes", a problem racist whites left for us. They are all ethnic groups.
And it is the Akan ethnic upon which the burden of ethnocentrism MUST be put! Your own Fantis are no exceptions. The records by even foreign writers are there to prove it. I have quoted just a bit so far in my writings on this subject.
Of course, who needs those records, when their outpouring of ethnocentric filth on Ghanaweb alone is enough to prove my claim?
Btw, you wrote:
"We were all Ghanaians until tribes come."
That's not true. We're different ethnic groups broken into tribes under British Divide and Rule before Ghana came into being as a new nation on 6th March 1957.

I liked what you had to say. Where I was born, Kabul, Afghanistan, tribalism was a part of that country too. I belonged to the Pashtoon tribe and I would here from my grandmother the differences between tribes. Like the Gaji tribe were barbaric and primitive people, or the Azara's were no good because of their Asian descent, and so on and so on. But I was raised in America and although there was less of that there I still saw the same thing in a similar but different ways. People would judge you based on how you dressed or your race or religion or what kind of music you listened to. But although that existed, about 60/40, people were curious to get to know you and your culture. I don't know where I'm going with this, it's late and I'm tired. Thanks for the article of your troubles in Ghana. I met this girl from there and wanted to know her culture better. She's an Ewe. Alright thanks for listening. Peace! ??????????
