What problems? What court cases? What bad reputation? Are the countries that kicked them out of a similar disposition when it comes to the complex nuances of the taxi business in Ghana? maybe if you would enlighten us, you could be helping shape us into citizens and not spectators. Mere generalities wont help us take a stand.
i personally hate to haggle with a driver about a fare to a destination and at times even pay extra when the driver seems to have revised the agreed fee on arrival. We in Gh live in a society where you are meant to bargain over the price of every single item (save the spaces that give you structure and consistency) and this is sad. Need you know,
Uber cars are insured, drivers are courteous and very professional about their job. When a driver fails to renew their license, roadworthy etc. Their uber account is locked until they do so. How many of these taxi's you see that are meant to have been put out of commission are still on our streets serving as death traps. this is due to the negligence on the part of the authorities to do due diligence when inspecting these vehicles. Not so with uber! do you not think Uber is helping reduce accidents that occur as a result of the aforementioned?Your car has to be in really good condition before you can serve. its smart on their part to tie all this into the remunerations you receive if you comply with their demands.
NB. Uber pays taxes on behalf their drivers. they probably are paying a lot more than you know. do your research to convince us some more.
lets embrace some positives that the tech revolution has bequeathed and make the most of it to help spur our own development. y'aka akyire dodo! ahba!

Taxis in Ghana are not regulated. Most of them are not road worthy and they smell. The drivers cheat the owners and lie all the time. We should welcome UBER and promote a Ghanaian owned software equivalent

Well said in this article ! Basically Uber is being banned in several countries due to the regulatory issues. Especially, the drivers are not treated well and not paid much. Banning these kind of on-demand services is not a permanent solution however this is the time traditional cab services should get into the technology at least to get a chance of survival. People are very keen about the technology to get the ride. There are companies like https://www.taximobility.com providing the solution to acquire this technology.
