President of the Yoruba Community in Ghana, Ambassador Oloye Fatuyi has charged Nigerians to ensure their votes are counted as preparation for the 2023 general elections intensifies.
He made the statement at the launch of the Dynamic Ambassadors for Peter Obi (DAPO), a support group that seeks to canvass support for the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi on Sunday, December 18.
According to him, Nigeria under the present government has failed in tackling insecurity while the country's infrastructure and road network is in a deplorable state.
He opines that Peter Obi's track record as governor of Anambra State makes him the best candidate to lead Nigeria after the end of the Buhari-led administration.
He said: "This is the season that the Labor Party, his excellency Peter Obi and Senator Yusuf Datti are the ones that God has sent to us at this moment. Let’s embrace them, as many as can travel back home. I hope all of us have our PVCs, please four years of bad leadership is worse than 200 years in hell fire."
"We saw what happened in Nigeria in the last 7 to 8 years, security wise F9, infrastructure wise F9, bad roads F9, jobs F9, farmers cant even go to the farm because of insecurities and we have a leader who is protecting what is not supposed to be protected, we need a blunt leader, a leader who will say it as it is, one who has political will power to fight."
"We need Peter Obi, a man that is trusted, we can all attest to his eight years of leadership in Anambra state, a state that was behind WAEC for many years, but when Peter Obi became governor of Anambra, the students jumped from the rare to first in the history of Nigeria, that is a leader, a leader that loves education, Peter Obi has promised us enough job and security, let’s go back home and vote for Peter Obi and Yusuf Datti, they are the ones coming to help Nigeria achieve a glory."
Nigerians will go to the poll in what many have described as a make or break in the fortunes of the country.
Peter Obi will hope the support he has garnered over the months will lead him to victory against more experienced political opponents in Atiku Abubakar of the Labour Party and Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
