American president Joe Biden told the media on June 28 that Russian president Vladimir Putin was losing two wars that he is engaged in.

He, however, mistakenly said Putin was losing the war in Iraq, a country Russia is not engaged with militarily.

“It’s hard to tell but he is clearly losing the war in Iraq, he is losing the war at home; and he is become a bit of a pariah around the world.

“It’s not just NATO, it’s not just the European Union, it’s Japan, it’s all the nations,” Biden told the media.

Biden mistakenly referred to Iraq instead of Syria, where Russia is engaged militarily.

The Russian military intervention in the Syrian civil war began in September 2015, after a request by the Syrian government for military aid against rebel and terrorist groups.

Putin’s latest security challenge was a threat by the Yevgeny Prigozhin-led Wagner paramilitary group to march on Moscow and take power. The march was halted after mediation by Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko.

Prigozhin is currently exiled in Belarus whiles Moscow takes steps to rein in the Wagner forces.
