The air and land borders are reopened on Wednesday and the curfew has been eased from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. in Chad, said the spokesperson for the transitional military council (CMT) General Azem Bermandoa Agouna on Wednesday.

The ministers of the dissolved government should temporarily ensure the continuity of public services until the establishment of a transitional government, according to the spokesperson.

The CMT, which took power on Tuesday following the death of Chadian President Idriss Deby, has taken a number of measures, including repealing the constitution, dissolving the government and parliament, closing borders, and establishment of a curfew from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m.

The CMT is headed by the son of the late president General Mahamat Idriss Deby, 37, who now occupies the functions of President of the Republic, according to the transitional charter.
