Chinonye Chukwu to direct Americanah on HBO

More details are emerging about the upcoming TV adaptation of one of Nigerian author Chimanda Ngozi Adichie's best-loved novels, Americanah.

Filmmaker Chinonye Chukwu is set to direct the first two episodes of the series on HBO Max, OkayAfrica reports.

Earlier this week Corey Hawkins was announced in the role of Blaine, the main character's boyfriend who is a Yale professor, the news site adds.

Other famous names on board include Kenyan Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong'o as lead character Ifemelu, and her Black Panther co-star Danai Gurira who wrote the pilot episode.
