For weeks now, women have been speaking up on social media about their rape and sexual harassment stories. Most women have taken the bold step to name their abusers and in the midst of it all, D’Banj was also named.

D’Banj shared a statement on these accusations in response to the girl, Seyitan’s accusations and a letter from her lawyers asking him to apologize. In the statement, he denied the rape allegations and demanded a sum of 100 million Naira (that’s about over a thousand Ghana cedis) for defamation of character.

Now despite the storm that followed after he shared that statement and news circulated that the girl who accused him, Seyitan had been arrested and detained with rumours suggesting she’d been allegedly kidnapped as well and her account was being used by her kidnappers to apologize to D’Banj and promote his music, D’Banj seems unbothered.

Seyitan has been confirmed to be back home after being detained overnight in the police cell and even though investigations into the rape allegations have been ordered by the IGP in Nigeria, D’Banj is on Instagram shouting out his innocence.

He posted a video of himself dancing to his song Olurunmaje which means “God forbid” with the caption “Innocent until proven guilty. Stop Social media trial. “
