A delegation of west African heads of state is expected in Mali on Wednesday, according to Mali's EU-funded Studio Tamani news website.
Niger's Mahamadou Issoufou, Senegal's Macky Sall, Ghana's Nana Akufo-Addo and Ivory Coast's Alassane Ouattara are expected in the country, the website reports.
Heads of state from the Economic Community of West African States (Ecowas) bloc had previously visited the country and proposed the formation of a unity government to resolve the political crisis.
The opposition rejected the proposal and insisted that President Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta resign.
Mali's military ousted the president on Tuesday and said they would set up a transitional government.
Ecowas has rejected the Tuesday coup and ordered for sanctions against the masterminds.
