According to Reuters, the Justice Minister, Dawda Jallow, did not disclose the target of the potential claim or the identity of the law firm involved.
Maiden Pharmaceuticals, the manufacturer of the cough syrup in question, has vehemently denied any wrongdoing. The Indian government has also stated that its tests did not detect any toxins in the medicines.
However, the World Health Organization (WHO) conducted independent tests that revealed the presence of two lethal toxins typically found in car brake fluid.
