Kobe Bryant’s 19-year-old daughter, Natalia Bryant, is asking a Los Angeles court to grant her a restraining order against an alleged gun-loving stalker who is said to have also sent her a message telling her that he hoped they can have a “Kobe-like child together.”

According to NBC News, Natalia, who is a student at the University of Southern California, on Monday, November 21 filed a civil harassment restraining order against Dwayne Cortez Toliver Kemp. The 32-year-old man is said to be a resident of Sun Valley, California.

The filing alleges that Kemp was 30 when he started making unwanted moves towards a then-17-year-old Natalia. Kemp is said to have initiated the alleged harassment on social media in 2020.

The filing states that Kemp’s social media messages to Natalia appeared to assume he was in a romantic relationship with the teen or that his goal was to start a relationship of such a nature. The filing also described Kemp as an individual who expressed his love for guns online. And though Natalia had never had any contact with Kemp, she became afraid as she received kissing and heart emojis from him. The filing also states that Kemp threatened to personally meet her.

Natalia, in July last year, received a Direct Message (DM) from Kemp that had a photo of her deceased father attached. Kemp allegedly told Natalia in the message that his hope was for them to give birth to a Kobe-like child, per the filing.

“Thankful For Him Birthing You, Hopefully We Can Birth Him… ‘Kobe,’” Kemp wrote in the message, the filing states. The harassment “escalated over time” and Kemp, on at least two different occasions, tried locating Natalia on the University of Southern California campus, the filing said, adding that she recently became fearful after he tried finding her at the school on November 2, NBC News reported.

The filing said Natalia’s sorority members, USC faculty as well as the USC Department of Public Safety are aware of Kemp’s escalating harassment. The filing also described Kemp as an alleged gun enthusiast who shared online posts about his love for firearms.

Not too long after he tried locating Natalia on campus on November 2, the filing states that Kemp took to social media to share images of a “Draco” and a “mini Draco.” The images were shared with the caption “next” – suggesting he wanted to buy the weapons, per the filing. The firearms are said to be AK47s that are pistol-styled.

The filing also alleges that Kemp shared an Instagram post the next day where he expressed his desire to buy a “Glock Switch” as soon as possible. The device, which federal law prohibits people from having, enables a semi-automatic Glock Pistol to operate like a fully automatic weapon.

Kemp, on November 9, also shared videos on social media supposedly showing he had initiated the process of buying a rifle, the filing states, adding that the alleged stalker had also tried to locate Natalia on campus around the period.

The filing also makes mention of Kemp’s arrest and conviction history for misdemeanours. Out of the four times that he has been arrested and or convicted for misdemeanours, one was in connection with a firearm offense, the filing states.

Natalia’s filing is said to be backed by USC campus police and the Los Angeles Police Department. The filing also states that Natalia has suffered “substantial emotional distress” from Kemp’s alleged harassment and stalking.

The teen’s lawyer, in the filing, has since asked the court to order Kemp to stay at least 200 yards away from Natalia, her residence, her workplace, her school, her car, her sorority house as well as the USC campus.

The court has since set December 14 as the next hearing date.
