Nigeria election date remains February 25 - Elections Chief

The chairperson of the Independent National Electoral Commission (Inec), Mahmood Yakubu, has refuted claims suggesting Nigeria's general election will be postponed.

Speaking at an event organised by the Chatham House think-tank in London, he said the election will come off on February 25 as scheduled, the BBC Africa LIVE page reports.

Prof Yakubu said that 93.4 million people had registered to vote, with more than 74 million of them being between the ages of 18 and 49.
