A Pan-African group known as The Five Galaxy's has submitted a petition to President John Dramani Mahama, calling for his support and action toward realizing the dream of a United States of Africa.
The petition, submitted on October 7, 2025, emphasises the urgent need for African unity and collective action to address the continent’s challenges.
It also highlights the upcoming African Summit, scheduled for March 20, 2026, at the OAU Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where all 54 heads of state from across the continent are expected to convene to discuss and shape Africa’s future.

Why Africa Must Unite
As Nkrumah aptly stated, “We need the strength of our combined numbers and resources to protect ourselves from the very positive dangers of returning colonialism in disguised forms.”
A united Africa, the petition argues, would enable the continent to:
Promote Economic Viability: Establishing a common market and economic union would increase Africa’s bargaining power and reduce dependence on external aid.
Enhance Global Influence: A united Africa would have a stronger voice in global affairs, allowing it to shape international policies that affect the continent.
Foster Peace and Security: Strengthening African solidarity and cooperation would reduce conflicts and enhance stability across the continent.
African Military Command: A unified military command would improve peacekeeping capabilities, reduce internal conflicts, and prevent foreign interference—creating a stable environment for development.
Common Currency, Bank, and Monetary Fund: These institutions would facilitate economic integration, simplify trade, and promote financial stability, reducing reliance on foreign currencies.
Borderless Africa: Free movement of people, goods, and services would boost economic integration, cultural exchange, and innovation.
Unified Policy on Natural Mineral Resources: This would ensure sustainable development and maximize benefits for African citizens through:
Collective Negotiation: Securing better terms with foreign investors.
Value Addition: Promoting local processing to create jobs and increase revenue.
Sustainable Development: Encouraging environmentally and socially responsible practices.
Benefit Sharing: Ensuring equitable distribution of resource proceeds among countries and communities.
The Five Galaxy's group is composed primarily of alumni from the Political Science Department of the University of Ghana, Legon. Their leader, Flt Sgt Amenyah TK (Rtd), a retired military officer, believes Ghana’s independence remains incomplete echoing Nkrumah’s sentiment.
They urge President John Mahama to take decisive steps to complete Ghana’s independence by championing African unity.
Other members of the group include Andrews Tetteh, popularly known globally as Saint Andrew, Wise Dziedzorm Torbgo, Hannah Ankomah, and Benedicta Mensah.
