Police in Mbarara City have intercepted 10 buses carrying 817 suspected trafficked persons, including 441 males and 376 females.
According to police, the interception which took place at Biharwe police checkpoint on the night of November 21, 2025, was intelligence-led.
The buses, which included Tausi buses, KR Coaches, Bapakasi buses, Jamah Express, and Savanah bus, were escorted back to CPS Mbarara and impounded.
According to police, the victims revealed that they were lured by agents of Alliance in Motion Global from different parts of the country with promises of finding them jobs in Mbarara City at a fee of up to Shs1.5 million per person.
"The victims were on their way to Kampala City for an annual Alliance in Motion Global meeting that was being held at Freedom City Building on Saturday," said SP Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi Regional Police Spokesperson.
The victims were cautioned and released to go back to their homes, as investigations into the matter are still ongoing.
"We urge the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities," SP Kasasira said.
