The last farewell to the Angolan musician Gelson Caio Manuel Mendes, or simply Nagrelha dos Lambas, was marked today, Tuesday, November 22, 2022 in Luanda, with the death of a minor, according to the balance of the National Police.

Even during the burial, the forces of order recorded the injuries of 16 policemen and 17 civilians. Some people also fainted.

The funeral procession departed from Estádio da Cidadela Desportiva, where people from various social strata, from mothers with children on their backs, young people, adults and children, were present, and took on different contours shortly after the body arrived at the Santa Ana cemetery. .

Tires and motorcycles were burned on Avenida Deolinda Rodrigues. There was also the throwing of bottles and theft of sundry items from trucks in circulation.

To contain the tempers, stun grenades and rubber bullets were fired by police agents, who tried to maintain the security cordon along Avenida Deolinda Rodrigues, which was closed since the early hours of today.

The police were forced to use force to disperse the crowd that was preventing the hearse from entering the cemetery.

While the burial was taking place, the sounds of gunshots could be heard from outside the cemetery, where the police were trying to disperse the crowd that at all costs was trying to invade the holy field to watch the act.

The more than 800 police personnel made available to ensure the ceremony were reinforced by the Rapid Intervention Police (PIR), in order to disperse the crowd, which would take refuge in the Popular and Rangel neighbourhoods, and set fire to tires and containers along the way. from the public road.

The acts of vandalism were condemned by several citizens, such as the musician Bruno King, who reacted inside the cemetery.

Nagrelha dos Lambas, aged 36, died in Luanda from an illness.

The emblematic singer was the author of several successful songs such as "Não me Tarraxa Assim", "Wamona", "Katronga Violenta", "Dizumba Grande", "Banzelo", "Toque do Nana", "Comboio", "Provou e Gostou ", among other musical themes.
