South African Finance Minister Tito Mboweni has called for the legalisation of the cannabis trade in order to collect more tax revenue.
In 2019 South Africa's Constitutional Court decriminalised the private possession, use and cultivation of cannabis.
Selling cannabis at any scale remains illegal.
He made the announcement on Twitter that he would put the idea to cabinet:
