Israeli scientists have developed a reusable protective mask against the coronavirus which, to be cleaned, only needs a portable charger, the University and research institute in Haifa, specialized in science and technology, Technion, has announced.
According to the Sputnik news agency, the new N95 mask is an innovation, capable of killing viruses on its surface thanks to an internal layer of uniformly dispersed carbon fiber.
The effect is obtained when this layer is reheated. For this, just a low current, just two amps, which can be easily supplied by a laptop charger or a USB connection.
The researchers say this mask will also help protect the environment since it is reusable.
With the help of the Technion business unit, a patent has been filed in the United States and contacts are underway to market the new mask.
Self-cleaning masks capable of killing certain viruses have also been invented by Russian researchers. They are made of materials developed by scientists and contain nanosilver which offers this self-cleaning property.
A group of researchers from the University of Indiana has developed a protective mask made of a fabric that, in the space of a single minute, deprives the coronavirus of its capacity to infect humans.
In addition, American researchers have claimed that the best masks to protect against viruses are those made from hybrid fabrics that can retain and filter a large number of inhaled particles.
