The mother and two others are due before a court on June 9, 2021
Police in South Africa are set to arraign a mother and two others before court on trafficking charges.
The unnamed mother, alleged to be a drug addict had attempted to sell her new-born twin daughters to "satisfy her drug addiction," Yolisa Mgolodela, a police spokesman, is quoted as saying.
She was arrested alongside two accomplices for allegedly attempting to sell the five-year-old girls.
Police took the kids to the hospital as they were "dehydrated and severely malnourished," at the time they were rescued.
