Tanzania's opposition presidential candidate, Tundu Lissu, has said he will ignore a police summons on Friday and instead attend a planned meeting with foreign envoys.
He said his Chadema party had received a letter from the police ordering him to appear before the head of investigations in the country's biggest city, Dar es Salaam, in the morning.
He is to be questioned over unspecified remarks he made on the campaign trail, the letter said.
But Mr Lissu said the letter does not outline the offence he committed to warrant being summoned:
Wito wa polisi sio barua ya kirafiki, ni amri ya kisheria. Wito huo unatakiwa kueleza kosa la mtuhumiwa. Barua hii haielezi kosa ninaloitiwa na imepelekwa kwa Mwenyekiti wa chama.
