South African comedian Trevor Noah serenaded a live audience on his Daily Show with a song on Thursday night, as he announced that the show will suspend having a live audience in the studio because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Other top talk shows have taken the same measures as the virus has spread in the US.

There are currently more than 1,300 confirmed cases of the virus in the country and at least 40 deaths have been reported.

Trevor Noah said the Daily Show had to do its part in curbing the spread of the virus:

"To do our part during the pandemic, the Daily Show is not going to have a live studio audience starting from Monday."

The comedian said he was going to miss the audience but looked forward to hosting them when the pandemic is over.
