Two boys, both aged 18, have been arrested for allegedly setting a house on fire in the Jonglei State capital, Bor, police said Thursday.
On Monday morning, unknown people were reported to have set a house ablaze in the Leudiet neighbourhood in Bor town. Household items including an AK-47 assault rifle and 50,000 South Sudanese Pounds were burnt in the ensuing inferno.
Major Majak Daniel Tuor, the Jonglei State police spokesperson, told Radio Tamazuj that they arrested two suspects for burning the house.
“Yesterday but one, the police arrested two boys. Investigations are still ongoing. The motive for the burning of the house remains unclear,” Major Majak said.
The police officer pointed out that the two suspects will be arraigned before a court as soon as investigations are concluded.
Bor has seen a rise in crime over the past few weeks. On Sunday police said a child was abducted when a group of armed men raided Werkok, a village in the outskirts of the town.
