The Universal Friendship Organization (UFO) has expressed concern and sadness over the recent increase in taxes in Kenya, which has sparked widespread protests, particularly among the youth.
In a strong statement, UFO condemned the excessive use of force by authorities, which has resulted in the loss of lives and injuries to many protesters.
The UFO has positioned itself in solidarity with the Kenyan youth, who are advocating for a fair and just economic system. The organization emphasized that economic policies should foster inclusivity, equality, and social justice rather than perpetuate inequality and hardship.
The UFO has laid out several key demands:
“Engage in meaningful dialogue with the youth and civil society organizations. Address the underlying economic and social issues driving the protests. Ensure accountability for the use of excessive force by security personnel,” part of the statement said.
The statement added “We extend our condolences to the families and loved ones of those who have lost their lives during the protests.
“We call on all parties to prioritize peaceful and constructive engagement, upholding the rights and dignity of all citizens.
“We urge African leaders, the UN, and security agencies to protect our youth for the betterment of the future.
“Together, we can build a more just and equitable society for all,” the stamen added.
