Nigerian songwriter and AfroBeat singer, Adedamola Adefolahan known by his stage name as Fireboy DML has revealed that Nigerian youth are low key still fighting the SARS war.
The singer mentioned he is proud of the Nigerian youth and how willing they are to fight for their rights. “The youth of Nigeria are ever ready to fight for their country and what they know rightfully belongs to them”.
Talking to Naa Dzama on the Y 102.5 FM’s Myd Morning Radio Show, he emphasized, “we haven’t stopped the fight. We’re still asking for good governance, accountability and putting an end to police brutality and it’s not just Nigeria or Africa but worldwide”.
He also went further to say, “I’m glad this generation is different because, we know what we want and we know how to work for it”.
Relating this to the upcoming MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMAS 2021) for which he has been nominated in the Best Male Artiste category, he stated that he is grateful for the opportunity given him by the organisers.
In expressing his excitement about the nomination, he added that he was looking forward to winning the award because, It’s a good thing to be part of and especially because it involves the youth. I am also proud of them because this particular campaign is for the youth and everything just blends together to make sense”.
