He identified the deceased children as Ann Achom, 6, and Betty Amoding, 8, pupils at Kadusok Primary School.
It’s alleged that an unknown motor vehicle was coming from Kumi heading to Pallisa side, when it reached Akutai village near Arab contractor’s offices, it knocked down the two pupils who were walking in the same direction in a group, but other children escaped death.
An eyewitness told the police that the driver of the speeding motor vehicle knocked down two dead and then drove off as if nothing had just happened.
The scene was visited by IP Immaculate Chekwoti, who led a team from Pallisa police station. The bodies were taken to Pallisa General Hospital for postmortem as the hunt for the unknown driver continues.
The Police spokesperson said the incident was registered under TAR 14/2026 as efforts to trace the hit-and-run vehicle and inquiries began.
Road accidents along the Kumi-Pallisa and Tirinyi-Pallisa road are increasingly being registered, according to police, warning drivers to exercise caution.
