The organisation says the anniversary will also be used to highlight issues related to gender
The Young African Women Congress (YAWC) Network is marking ten years of activities aimed at supporting women of African descent across the continent and the diaspora, with a series of events scheduled between June and October 2026.
According to the organisation, the anniversary programme will combine public discussions, health advocacy, fundraising initiatives, and networking engagements.
YAWC currently operates in eleven countries—Kenya, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Cameroon, Uganda, Ethiopia, Malawi, Zambia, the United States of America, and Ghana, where its headquarters is located.
A key event on the calendar is a public lecture scheduled for June 10, 2026. The lecture is expected to bring together policymakers, professionals, and young women to reflect on the organisation’s work over the past decade and discuss future priorities.
The Network also plans to organise a health walk on July 4, 2026, in Accra, as part of efforts to raise awareness about cervical cancer. Similar activities are expected to take place across its international chapters.
On August 14, YAWC will hold a fundraising event alongside the launch of a legacy project, with a separate ground-breaking ceremony planned for later in the year.
The anniversary activities will conclude with the 2026 Annual Global Convocation from October 25 to 30 in Accra. The event is expected to include workshops, training sessions, panel discussions, and exhibitions focusing on women’s development and leadership. A thanksgiving service is also scheduled for October 29.
The organisation says the anniversary will also be used to highlight issues related to gender equality and women’s leadership through its various programmes.
Founded in 2016, the Young African Women Congress Network describes itself as a pan-African platform that connects young women across Africa and the diaspora. Its work focuses on leadership development, advocacy and community-based initiatives, with country-based chapters coordinating activities in different locations.
