Police recover weapon at murder scene as body is sent to mortuary for autopsy
A 17-year-old boy was clobbered to death in an altercation over payment of Kenya Power tokens in Nairobi’s Kayole area.
The deceased and assailant were neighbours at an apartment and shared a power supply token gadget.
Police and neighbours said the neighbours shared a payment plan for the supply of power to their house which was at the centre of the fatal altercation.
The deceased had gone to inquire from his neighbour why he had not paid for the tokens as agreed.
This followed the automatic disconnection of power to the house after the tokens were exhausted, the neighbours told police.
This broke out to a confrontation where the assailant used a wooden club to hit the boy in the head fatally.
He was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to the injuries as the assailant escaped the scene.
Police visited the murder scene and recovered the weapon used in the fatal attack while the body was moved to the mortuary pending other procedures.
Police said on Thursday the hunt on the assailant was ongoing for grilling following the murder.
In Kabati, Muranga county, one Francis Njane, 38, was found dead on the roadside after a sudden fall.
Police officers visited the scene and found the body lying by the roadside with no visible physical injuries.
The body was moved to General Kago Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem examination.
Elsewhere, police in Bungoma county are investigating a suspected drowning incident after the body of a woman was recovered from River Teremi in Kopsiro subcounty.
According to the police, the incident was reported on April 14.
The body was retrieved from the river after it was found trapped between rocks.
She was later identified as Susy Papa, a resident of Cheptotor area.
The body was moved to Delight Funeral Home in Kimilili for preservation pending a post-mortem examination.
Detectives documented and processed the scene as investigations into the incident continue.
Police in Kiambu county are investigating an incident where a 26-year-old man lost his life in River Athi near Pipeline area, Magogoni, Thika East subcounty.
The incident was reported on April 14 after members of the public alerted authorities.
The body of Paul Chege was retrieved from the river by local divers after he reportedly drowned while swimming with friends.
Authorities confirmed that the deceased had been swimming in the river when the incident occurred.
