Accra, March 20, GNA - Promasidor Ghana Limited, manufacturers of Cowbell Milk products on Tuesday presented a 60 million cedi sponsorship package to the University of Ghana towards this year's Ghana Universities Sports Association (GUSA) Mini-Athletics competition. The event, the second since its inception will take place at the premier University from March 23-24.
The package made up of the companies products such as Cowbell malt milk, Choco milk, coffee, branded cowbell radios and T-shirts will be presented to winning athletes during the two-day event. Kwabena Asamoah, Communications Manager of Promasidor, said the decision of his company to sponsor the event is aimed at promoting the general health needs and the general well being of the students. He gave the assurance of the company's continued support in future competitions since they been associated with university sports for the past five years.
Dr. Angelina Danquah, Senior Lecturer at the Home Science Department of the University, who received the products on behalf of the Pro-Vice Chancellor, thanked the company for the kind gesture and support towards the university's sporting activities.
Aloysius Denkabe, Acting Director of Sports of the University of Ghana said that the event is part of the nation's preparations towards the World University Games, scheduled for Bangkok, Thailand in August. The five public universities across the country, made up of the host and the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, (KNUST), University of Cape Coast, University for Development Studies (UDS) and University of Education, Winneba will be participating in the two-day event.
University of Cape Coast is the defending champions.
