GhanaWeb sports personality of 2005, Ignatius Gaisah, is relishing a fantastic athletics season.
The long jumper is ranked second best in the world, after a season ending silver medal at the world athletics championships last year.
The Holland-based athlete aims to record a marked improvement in the new season, beginning with the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.
Gaisah says he is working hard to avoid injuries that hampered the opening quarter of the season for him last year.
?This year I think I have improved on my speed as well as power and technique so I?m looking forward to doing better this summer than last year.
?I?m looking forward to jump consistently, 8:30m, 8:40m outdoor and maybe two or three time over 8:50m, I would be happy.
"I?m looking forward to beat the African record, the record is 8:46m and I?m looking forward to jump 8:47m, 8:50m.
?My goal is to beat the African record and if I beat that record, the gold would be mine,? Gaisah said.
