Accra, Oct. 11, GNA - The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports on Friday, denied media allegations that Ghanaian foreign athletes had withdrawn from the on-going Eighth All African Games in Abuja, Nigeria. A statement signed by Mr Kofi Aggrey, Public Relations Officer of the Ministry said "Ghana's representatives to the Games are still poised to participate fully to win laurels for the nation."
The statement said in response to a telephone enquiry from the Ministry in the afternoon following media reports of a threat to boycott the games, Dr. Emmanuel Owusu-Ansah, Ghana's Chef de Mission to the Games denied the allegations.
It said Dr Owusu-Ansah said " the athletes are in the best of spirits and are calling for the support of Ghanaians through prayers".
